Handwashing the Anxiety Away
To be in love is one thing, but to be so stricken by love that your father needs to meet the love of your life (while I’m not present might I add) is another thing.
I’ve tried to sauna the butterflies in my stomach away–that didn’t help.
I’ve tried pacing my studio back and forth–that didn’t help.
I even walked up and down Michigan Ave thirsting to spend money to help alchemize my anxiety to a new candle or skin care product, and to my true dissatisfaction that didn’t help either.
But you know what did?
Smoked a beautiful [REDACTED] , and hand washed all of my silks.
I don’t know what it was about turning 28, but I decided that all of my loungewear had to be silk–specifically Agent Provocateur.
And there’s nothing more calming than being intentional and caring for your beautiful things that you’ve spent your hard earned coin on.
Here’s exactly how I wash all of my anxieties away:
Step 1:
Turn on Naomi Sharon’s “The Only Love We Know”
Step 2:
Fill up your clean sink with cool water
Step 3:
Soak one piece of silk at a time. This is crucial because silks tend to bleed, and ruining your good good is even more anxiety inducing than your dad meeting the love of your life.
Step 4:
Add a gentle wash of your liking. I personally love the laundress line.
Step 5:
Gently massage the solution into your silks.
Step 6:
Rinse in cool water, and roll in a white towel
Step 7:
Hang to dry
Hope this regulates your nervous system as much as it did mine.
